Lead Status
Granular status values for contacts in the Lead lifecycle stage — how to track where each prospective member sits in your pipeline.
Lead Status describes where a prospective member sits in your chapter's recruitment pipeline. It's the second layer of detail beneath Lifecycle Stage — every contact whose Lifecycle Stage is "Lead" should also have a Lead Status.
The lead-status values EO uses
- New — recently identified, no contact yet.
- Contacted — we've reached out at least once.
- Engaged — they've replied, attended an event, or are otherwise actively in conversation.
- Qualified — they meet EO's membership criteria and have expressed serious interest.
- Application Submitted — formal application is in.
- Unqualified / Disqualified — doesn't meet criteria, withdrew, or went cold.
Why we keep it separate from Lifecycle Stage
Lifecycle Stage is a one-way ratchet: Lead → Member → Alumni. Lead Status, by contrast, moves up and down inside the Lead lifecycle until the contact either joins or drops out. Mixing the two creates messy automation — a "Member who is also Qualified" makes no sense and a re-engagement campaign would target them by mistake.
